Members enjoy the following benefits…
- Access to our dark sky site at Old Laravale School. We run a viewing night and a members-only meeting / viewing night around the dark of the Moon each month. Our Calendar can be viewed here.
- You’ll receive regular email updates on future viewing and meeting nights, and other activities.
- Members participate in various outreach and fundraising activities, such as public and school field nights, Dinner under the Stars, International Observe the Moon Night (IOTMN) etc. You’re welcome to join in.
- You can apply to leave your telescope and equipment in our shipping containers at Old Laravale School. Equipment is stored at your risk.
- A free red headlamp, courtesy of Astrodog (club sponsor). Ask for your headlamp when you next come to a viewing or meeting night Laravale School.
- A discount on any purchases from Astrodog.
There are two types of membership: Associate and Full. The benefits are the same except Full members can vote and hold office. SRAA encourages Full membership as it supports the club financially.
Membership fees are due each year at the March AGM. The fees are:
- Full Member – $30
- Full Member concession – $25
- Family (2 adults plus their children) – $50
- Family concession – $40
- Junior (Under 18) – $5
- Associate – $5
Concession fees are for those who hold a valid Government-issued Seniors Card, Concession Card or similar. Full membership fees are reduced pro-rata for those joining partway through the year.
